A NEW way to analyse slurry as you spread using near infra-red technology is being trialled by spreader manufacturer, Joskin and John Deere
The ability to analyse N,P and K in real time can bring muck and slurry spreading within the realms of precision farming management techniques.
Using an ISOBUS connected system on Joskin tankers fitted with a proportional flow meter, this transfers data between the JD's HarvestlabTM (NIR computer), the MCS computer and the Joskin ECU.
The analysis not only records N, P and K levels, but also ammoniacal nitrogen (NH4) and dry matter, for further pinpoint nutrient accuracy.
Users can select a target value of nitrogen and a maximum value to phosphate, with the tractor speed and the flow of the spreading implement regulated accordingly. Maps can be made generated to manage mineral fertilisers optimally.
