ITS NEW range of mounted reversible ploughs will make their Scottish debut at the show for Maschio.

Aimed for use behind tractors ranging from 120hp to 300hp, this si the first time the Italian-maker has brought the ploughs into the UK.

Imported by Opico, it said dealers and customers had asked for a range of no-nonsense tough ploughs. “We felt the timing was right to bring the Maschio plough into the UK,” said Opico's MD, James Woolway.

“Despite changes in tillage practices, ploughing continues to be an essential part of many farmers’ cultivation rotations – especially in Scotland – and we wanted to be able to offer our customers the full range.”

Aiming to fill that gap, will be Maschio's line-up of three to six-furrow models, with mechanical or hydraulically variable working width adjustment and either shear-bolt or hydro-pneumatic auto-reset.

There are two model ranges. The Unico M is a mid-range line-up for tractors up to 200hp, topping out at five furrows.

Then there's the similarly configured, but heavy duty Unico L, which is built to cope with up to 300hp. – available in four, five and six-furrows.

Features of all is an easy and fast front furrow width adjustment, plus their mechanical or hydraulic vari-width controls.

A turnover memory function closes the bodies up automatically when turning the plough over to ensure nothing hits the ground. Once back in working position, it returns to the preset.

Inter-body clearance of 95cm and under beam clearance of 80cm are some of the other tech specs when working.

The auto-reset is a centralised hydro-pneumatic circuit, with piston nitrogen accumulator, which makes for faster leg reset. The first body has a larger diameter cylinder for higher trip pressure as the leading point going into unbroken ground.
