HONDA’S long-awaited venture in to the side-by-side market was on show for the first time to many Scottish farmers at this week’ Royal Highland.
The Pioneer 700 side-by-side took centre stage on Honda’s stand, marking the brand’s entry into the UK’s fast-growing utility vehicle market.
This ‘go anywhere’ vehicle stands by the reputation gained by the farmer’s favourites – the TRX420 and TRX500 quad bikes. It is available as a two-seater (700-2) or as a flexible four-seater (700-4), built around the proven 675cc fuel-injected, liquid-cooled engine and transmission seen on Honda’s range-topping TRX680 ATV.
A three-speed automatic transmission ensures true engine braking across the most demanding terrain, while fully-independent double wishbone front and rear suspension is claimed to deliver superior handling, smooth riding and all-day comfort.
A feature is the 386kg capacity tilt bed, with a hydraulic-assist strut, plus it has a 680kg towing capacity.
The industry-exclusive QuickFlip seating system on the 700-4 means that there’s easy switching between one, two or three passengers, or a full cargo bed.
