IMPRESSIVE new Can-Am ATVs are set to expand Bombardier Recreational Products’ 2017 side-by-side vehicle line-up, in a bid to meet the demand from users for comfort, control and power, whilst hauling and towing heavy loads across multiple terrains.
Included is the Can-Am Traxter HD5, which has the comfort and control of the original Can-Am Traxter combined with the performance of a 38hp petrol engine. Supported with a 40-litre fuel tank, this innovative SSV provides users with a work ready vehicle that can spend more hours out in the fields simplifying the toughest jobs.
The HD5’s Rotax engine has been calibrated to supply excellent power and torque from working on the farm and in the field, with the durable continuously variable transmission (CTV) equipped with engine braking, drive belt protection and a work-ready low range as standard.
It’s built around a dependable high strength, low-alloy steel chassis and comes with double A-arm front suspension, Torsional Trailing A-arm (TTA-HD) rear suspension and twin-tube gas-charged shocks that supply 10 inch (26.7cm) of travel at the front and rear of the SSV.
For superior off-road capabilities, this unit is fitted with selectable 2wd/4wd Visco-Lok auto-locking front differential and 25 inch (63.5cm) Maxxis tyres on 12 inch (30.5cm) wheels.
With the ability to tow up to 680kg and a payload of 544kg, the heavy-duty cargo box has the adaptability to go with its 277kg rated capacity, tilting bed and fully functional tailgate. BRP claim that it also has the industry’s largest fuel tank at 40litres, which allows more time allocated to work and less time spent refuelling.
Designed to be as roomy as possible, this 2017 Traxter HD5 side-by-side vehicle is available in two packages (base and DPS) and comes in three colours, including an optional, water-dipped Mossy Oak Break-Up Country camo finish, as well as 160 Can-Am accessories.
Providing a larger versatile workhouse vehicle and with the ability to carry six passengers, is the Can-Am Traxter MAX DPS. It also requires no break-in service and remains maintenance-free for one year or up to 1865 miles (3000 km) or 200 running hours.
Powered with either the 50hp HD8 or 72hp HD10 Rotax V-Twin engine, both offer the user the right amount of torque, performance and power when riding the trails or towing and hauling goods.
This latest addition features a new high rigidity chassis made from high-strength low alloy (HSLA) grade steel, which ensures the SSV has a solid design that allows it to handle the strain of heavy loads.
Lightweight cast-aluminium wheels and Maxxis big horn tyres allow the Traxter MAX DPS to respond quickly to rugged terrains, while the driver and passengers are seated on its Dual Versa-Pro bench seat with a hardwearing vinyl cover and profiled corners to improve the entry and exit of the cab.
Included is the highly durable cargo box which has a 454kg load capacity and can be easily divided up to suit the user’s requirements using the integrated recesses in the bed, while the vehicle’s cabin has a total storage capacity of 42.1 litres for miscellaneous items.
The unit also has a 140-watt output from four 35 watt reflectors, a 40-litre fuel tank and an integrated front steel bumper and central skid plate to protect the vehicle when working. Again, it comes with the same guarantee as the Traxter HD5.
Also new in the industry is Can-Am’s 172hp 2018 Maverick X3 Turbo R model, which BRP claim is the most powerful vehicle on the market. Delivering 12% more horsepower and 10% added torque, the new flagship super sport side-by-side vehicle can go from 0-60mph in just 4.4 seconds.
