TWO extra-wide models have pushed Kuhn’s Primor range of feeder/blowers into new territory at either end of the spectrum.

The 15m³ Primor 15070M and 4.2m³ 4270M both have extra-wide, high-capacity bodies enabling them to handle the largest round and square bales.

The larger model can take up to four 1.3x1.2x2.7m rectangular bales or three round bales up to 2m in diameter and can be customised according to users’ wishes, with a side or multi-directional discharge chute enabling straw to be blown to the left or right.

Its two intake rotors feed the full 1700mm width of the turbine’s input area, while a bank of six hydraulic tines above the feed rotors allows intake settings to be adjusted according to the type of product being used.

They are capable of blowing to 18m and have eight bolt-on blades for pneumatic fodder separation.

It uses Kuhn’s hydraulic unroll system to clamp subsequent bales in place and stop them from rotating while the first bale is being discharged.

It also has a hydraulic tailgate with a 1.2-tonne lift capacity for loading and the floor has a 14mm chain conveyor, with an optional boost floor, for extra feed conveyor torque for the likes of grass silage.

In common with existing machines, the 15070M uses Kuhn’s disengageable belt driven clutch to drive two feed rotors with 30 cutting sections, with all Primor machines capable of feeding all long-strand feedstuffs.

Starting price for the basic machine –with side chute and electric control – is £34,249.

The smaller 4270M takes rectangular bales up to 1.3x1.2x2.7m, or two round bales up to 2m in diameter and 1.5m wide – it sits between Kuhn’s existing 3570 (3.5m³) and 5570 (5.5m³) machines and is fitted with an overhead chute for straw blowing and feeding, with a swivelling chute as an option.

As standard it has intuitive electric controls, with a hydraulic tailgate of 1.2-tonne capacity for self-loading of round bales. An optional remote control allows the it to be operated from the tractor cab.

It has the same turbine input system as its larger counterpart, with a 12mm diameter chain conveyor to feed material to the turbine.
