A CULTIVATOR aimed at mixing trash and soil at shallow depths of 2-3cm on stubbles, cover crops and ploughed land, is new from Väderstad.

It said its new CrossCutter Disc can work at speeds of up to 20kph, but yet has a low horsepower requirement.

The shaped disc system is fitted to the Väderstad Carrier chassis and has working widths between 3m to 12.25m. The new discs have a diameter of 450mm and are produced by using high-quality V-55 Swedish steel.

Each disc is individually mounted to a rubber suspended disc arm, which allows them to produce a stable work flow across the full working width of the machine.

This shallow cultivator is ideal for incorporating cover crops, but has also proved itself on cereal stubbles, where its intense shallow cultivation helps tackle grassweeds, such as blackgrass.

The CrossCutter will be available for Väderstad Carrier 300-400, 420-820 and 925-1225 models from December, 2017.

Vaderstad has also launched a small seeds kit for its Tempo drills for oilseed rape, turnips and beet.

This will be available for all new Tempo drills from the four-row Tempo R 4 up to the 18-row Tempo R 18, and it can be retrofitted to existing drills.

The main components of the kit include suspended stop wheels and the ability to adjust the angle of the closing wheels. The pressure on the stop wheel can be altered to optimise seed-to-soil contact when the seed leaves the seed tube.

This will be in production from February, 2018.

A new fertiliser placement kit for the combination cultivator TopDown and the heavy tined cultivator, Opus, is also new from the Swedish company.

This has a distributor head that takes fertiliser metered out from a front hopper to each cultivator tine, working down to 30cm depth.

The fertiliser is placed behind each tine at a pre-selected depth. The operator can either choose to place the fertiliser at full depth, on the field surface, or 50/50 deep and shallow.
