Canadian harvesting specialist, McDon, is opening a European office in Germany to boost its presence in Europe.

A manufacturer of leading edge header technology suitable for all major combine brands, the opening of MacDon Europe will give it a platform to support dealers and customers with more tools and enable the growth of the brand.

The business manufactures self-propelled auger, disc and draper windrowers, pull-type disc mowers, as well as pick-up headers, rigid draper and flexdraper headers.

Its specialist rigid draper and flexdraper headers have been designed for high-yielding conditions in European crops.

“We increasingly notice that weather conditions make harvest windows less stable in Europe. As a consequence, the ability to harvest effectively and reliably becomes more and more important,” said McDon's Euro manager, Benedikt von Riedesel, who will be responsible for supporting and expanding distribution and service structures across Europe.

Part of his remit is to look for new partners to sell the product: “MacDon’s decision to set up our own distribution structure is the logical solution to the noticeably growing demand in European markets."

At the Agritechnica machinerty show, in Hanover, Germany, the family-owned MacDon will be promoting its new European position. It has been selling harvesting technology for 65 years and has a workforce of 1400, with products sold in more than 40 countries.
