ONE of the biggest shear grabs at Agritechnica was made by German company Bressel und Lade, whose B220 model is an 18-prong shear grab that can cut a silage block measuring 220cm x 130cm x 95cm.
Itself, it weighs in at 1.37 tonnes and is priced in Germany at €7845, plus VAT. But it makes a bigger model. Sales consultant, Hohlert Grunhagen, said: “We make the B262 model which is the biggest one in our range. It can cut a block that measures 262cm x 130cm x 95cm, or a capacity of 3200 litres. In total, the B262 shear grab has 22 prongs and weighs 2.28 tonnes."
There are a few grabs exported by the company to the UK and other global outlets, but Hohlert said the market for these grabs was already saturated, making exports more difficult.
