THE NEW 'S' designation introduced by Massey Ferguson's across a wide spectrum of its tractor ranges means that a lot of high-specification features will come ready to go in these tractors.

Most of its ranges built in Beauvais, France, can get the up-market features, including leading-edge styling, plus the option of the new Fieldstar 5 touchscreen terminal.

Aimed at comfort and ease of use, the company recently paraded some of the newcomers on its stand at Agritechnica, in Germany, with models from the 270-400hp MF 8700 S, 140-280hp MF 7700 S, 120-200hp MF 6700 S and 100-130hp MF 5700 S ranges.

Also launched at the show, the 95hp MF 5709 S is a brand-new model at the lower end of the MF 5700 S range offering customers a high specification in a compact package with a choice of either Dyna-4 or Dyna-6 transmissions.

MF's 'S Effect' will cover across its ranges from the new 95 hp MF 5709 S up to its most powerful 400 hp MF 8740 S.

“Massey Ferguson is continuing to invest in developing and introducing new equipment to help customers enhance efficiency and economy,” pointed out Campbell Scott, its director marketing services. “The S Effect, first introduced on the award-winning MF 6700 S series, enhances operational efficiency across the ranges, and adds a stylish new design.”

They all feature a distinctive new style with a new bonnet design, decals, bar lights and headlights to create a progressive, leading-edge look. Inside, the tractors get a new darker seat cover (instead of the current grey) and a black armrest frame, while the Datatronic 4 console becomes silver, grey and black.

The precision farming aid, Fieldstar 5 touch-screen, is an option for all 'S' designations, with a more technically able ISOBUS terminal also available.

This stand-alone terminal combines the ease of use and touch-screen convenience of a tablet with powerful precision farming features and is as easy to use as the latest tablets and smartphones, said a MF spokesman.
