THERE'S a new man in Scotland representing Sulky Burel and Gregoire Besson products. Craig Thomson is the new sales manager for Scotland and Northern England and he comes with plenty of experience having had 24 years in the agricultural machinery trade.

He will be involved in the joint UK co-operation between Sulky and Gregoire Besson UK – which have shared several functions since Sulky launched its UK subsidiary in November, 2015, including a sales team, co-located office space and a parts distribution centre in Bourne, Lincolnshire.

Sulky Burel has also recently launched updates and improvements to its fertiliser spreaders – the X40+ and X50+ flagship fertiliser spreaders, plus its DX30 and DX30+ range. The X40/50+ range get two additional pieces of equipment – a hydraulic drive solution for the spreading discs plus right and left low-level sensors – while the DX30 and DX30+ are now ISOBUS compatible.

The hydraulic drive to the spreading discs works independently of the engine speed, allowing the machines in the X40/50+ to work with a low tractor engine speed of 1500 rpm, thus saving fuel.

This also makes coupling simpler thanks to the two hydraulic valves that have replaced the pto shaft.

The new low-level sensors on the ISOBUS versions of the X40/50+ fertiliser spreaders, increase productivity on those fitted with ECONOV section cut-off, or GPS adjustment. They make it possible to know exactly when one side of the hopper is nearing empty, giving sufficient warning to the operator to refill the hopper and avoid working empty.

ISOBUS connectivity functions on the DX machines, brings many features from the X40/50+ range down the food chain. Functions including application rate adjustment and section cut-off and spreading at half-width is also possible.
