Moving muck on a grand scale is a result of an increasing amount of digestate from anaerobic digester power stations and a new emphasis in utilising sewage waste.
So, this requires some hefty tackle to shift the huge tonnages which are now being spread across the UK spreaders.
Dutch maker, Vredo completed the delivery of 14 massive machines to the UK earlier this year – 13 were of the VT4556 Tebbe muck spreaders delivered to Anglian Water and OJ Neil Contracting, working for Thames Water; and one huge VT7028 Tebbe Muck spreader went to Farming General Services. This latter machine has a 687hp engine and CVT transmission.
They were equipped with the latest GPS-auto steer systems and with variable rate control. All had wide floatation tyres for minimal soil compaction.
