AWARD winning farmer Robert Neill, is to host an Alltech and KEENAN meeting at his farm on the Scottish Borders on Wednesday 21 March, providing a unique opportunity to find out the secret to the success of his beef enterprise.

Winner of Farmers Weekly Farmer of the Year in 2017, Neill has fine-tuned all aspects of his system to achieve impressive levels of efficiency and business performance.

With an ethos to monitor, measure and manage everything that’s controllable, he began using InTouch 12 months ago to optimise the nutritional programme for his beef herd, which comprises 1,000 head of cattle.

The event will give visitors a chance to see the beef finishing system at Upper Nisbet Farm in practice, as well as hear from technical experts from Alltech and KEENAN, who will provide practical advice on SMART FEEDING solutions that can help improve production efficiency. Topics will include; mycotoxin risk in silage, how to maximise rumen efficiency, formulation and delivery of optimum diets and how to monitor and adapt intakes.

Bob Kendal, ruminant manager for the North at Alltech, says an increasing number of producers are looking at practical ways to future proof their business. “While individual farmers have very little control over the trends in market prices, they do have total control over what happens within their own farm gate and improving the efficiency and performance of their business, can help hedge against a volatile market,” says Mr Kendal.

“Since partnering in 2016, Alltech and KEENAN have been able extend their offering and are now working closely together, alongside producers like Mr Neill, to improve business performance through unique smart feeding solution services.

“We are therefore delighted to be holding our first on-farm joint Alltech and KEENAN event and encourage anyone interested in fine-tuning their own beef system, to join Robert Neill and our team of experts at Upper Nisbet Farm on March 21.”

Refreshments will be served from 11am and farmers can come along to the event without registering. For more information, please go to www.Alltech.com/uk/events
