MORE than 1000 entries have been taken for Pentland Livestock's vintage sale at the Tractor World Show, which will be held in Scotland for the first time.
Taking place on Saturday, March 24, and Sunday, March 25, 1200 items will be up for sale, including 80 tractors and vehicles, 100 implements plus tractor spares and models. Entries are from all over the UK and Ireland, with some set to make ‘big money’ at the Royal Highland Showground, near Edinburgh.
Graeme Burke, of Pentland Livestock, will be the auctioneer of the vintage sale on the Saturday and he is looking forward to welcoming a range of machinery, both old and new.
“We have an original Ferguson berry tractor which is in show condition and has won a number of shows during its lifetime,” said Mr Burke. “We also have an original fire engine, a 1929 Rolls Royce, which was a rare barn find. There’s also a Field Marshall series one, and you don’t see them very often.”

In terms of what will be the stars of the show, Mr Burke said a couple of County tractors should be well bid for.
Two indoor exhibition halls will be filled by the show, while a commercial and van show will run over the two days and the Sunday will host a classic truck drive in. Exhibits will also be on display from regional and national machinery clubs.
Show organiser, Mark Woodward, said the show will host something for every machinery and tractor enthusiast: “It’s a great opportunity if you’re on the look-out for that essential part, with lots of indoor and outdoor trade stands on offer.”
Having hosted the show in England every year until now, Mr Woodward explained his decision to move it north of the Border. “With such excellent road, rail and air links to the Royal Highland Centre, we expect attendees from all over the UK, but I especially look forward to welcoming Scottish visitors, who’ve been waiting a long time for this opportunity.”

During the vintage auction, an International B275, made in 1969, will be sold by the Ayrshire Vintage Tractor and Machinery Club, and all proceeds will go to rural charity, RSABI.
Some other entries over the weekend include:
A Ford 6600, with a three-stage crane, which was imported from Australia. This machine has 2300 hours on it and is one of only three in the UK; John Deere GP on steel wheels, from 1931/1932. This was restored by the late Murray Simpson, and was once displayed in John Deere’s Mannheim factory; several rare Fergusons, including a grey Ferguson Reekie conversion berry tractor; a Ford Ferguson 9-N petrol paraffin; a Ferguson TE-J original narrow (not a Reekie); a Ferguson TE-F; and a Ferguson TE-D.

Tickets will cost £12.50 per adult per day and can be purchased for £10.50 on the website in advance of the show.
A weekend ticket will cost £20 per adult, or £15 in advance.
