FOR THE first time in the UK, Fendt was able to show off its full green harvest brigade at Grassland UK.

The new line-up was a significant focal point for many livestock farmers and contractors attending the event.

Visitors got to see the pretty impressive Katana forage harvester and the rest of the range all the way down to Fendt’s Former rake.

The Katana has earned the reputation of being able to take pretty much anything the UK can throw at it and is making inroads into territory dominated by the likes of Claas, John Deere and New Holland.

Newest machines on show were the Tigo forage wagons. Light in weight, compact and with design stability, these have an adjustable bulkhead, meaning that the loading area above the pick-up can also be utilised.

The VarioFill loading/unloading system delivers compaction density and then, when unloading, the bulkhead swings round to face the rear so the crop goes out in the same direction as it came in.

There are also new six models in Fendt’s drum mower range, the Cutters, which all feature four drums – front or rear mounted – and common to all is low ground pressure and a mechanism that handles the sward with great care.

The Slicer disc mowers centre around the patented TurboLift system and its centre suspension for rear mounting allows the discs to float through the crop, protecting the sward and ensuring excellent forage quality.

Five disc models span an 8.3m-9.3m cutting width.

Also on show was Fendt Twister tedder range and the Former rake line-up. These latter machines come with single, double or four-rotors and can lift up to 14.5m.

Fendt has also added four models in a new range of round balers. The ‘entry-level’ model is robust, straightforward, knife-free and has the added benefit of a low power requirement, but the range-topping Fendt 4180 V Xtra is very much aimed at high levels of use by contractors.
