THE CAN-AM brand owned by Bombardier, has moved into the side-by-side ATV market with a line-up of five models, with two engine options.
The power choices are either a Rotax 800 or a 1000cc unit which feature V-twin EFI technology. Can-Am says the Commanders feature the most power and best fuel efficiency in the industry.
It says the Commander 1000 is 39% more fuel efficient than its nearest class competitor and uses throttle-by-wire operation through its Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC) system for fast and precise response.
Innovative features, including a dual-level cargo box, TTI rear suspension, anti-dive front-end geometry and a two-inch diameter rollover protection system (ROPS-approved) are included in the package.
It also boasts the most fuel capacity in the industry at 38 litres for a full working day and has the most cockpit storage of any other side-by-side.
The Can-Am Commander line-up consists of the 800 EFI and 1000 EFI models, with two levels of spec’ on the smaller engined model and three levels on the ‘biggie’, as well as the ability to add from the 50 accessories that are currently available.
The brand has also launched two new ATVs, plus upgrades to existing models. The Can-Am Outlander 800R X xc and the Can-Am Outlander 800R X mr are aimed mainly at the recreational market, though the latter of the two may have some work credentials as it is specificially built to handle muddy terrain.
The Outlander 800R X mr has an industry first, an air-controlled suspension, which allows the rider to adjust the ground clearance of the machine, plus a relocated radiator to allow it to wallow in the mud.
