A MOVE into the world of 4 x 4 'crossover' has been made by Jaguar, which will start selling its exciting new F-Pace in 2016 after revealing it as part of its birthday package celebrating its 80th anniversary at this month's Franfurt car show.
The F-Pace is the fourth all-new product from Jaguar in 2015 and the third to be based on its all-new lightweight aluminium architecture.
Prices are expected to start from around £30,000 and though full details are still sketchy, it should have a range of four cylinder petrol and diesel engines - both of two-litres - and a supercharged 3.0 V6 petrol. In time, a racy supercharged V8 variant could also be available.
Size-wise, it looks to be comfortable alongside the Audi Q5 and BMW X3 and will share a lot of its underpinnings with the new XE saloon, including much of the interior switchgear and infotainment system. Its all-wheel-drive set-up is the innovative All-Surface Progress Control, which could also be rolled out into others carrying the famous Jaguar badge.
