IT MIGHT only sell one pick-up, but Vauxhall's latest version of its Maloo LSA is certainly the most radical in the UK market.

The new Maloo has a huge growler of an engine in the bay and the supercharged 6.2-litre, 530bhp motor will skip t' maloo its payload of 540kg - or at least three rams!! - from 0 to 60mph in a supercar-beating 4.6 seconds. That means business users can have an unfeasibly fast motor that they can claim the VAT back on from its £54,500 on-the-road price.

That new V8 ups the power from the outgoing model of 425bhp and there's a matching increase in torque from 570Nm to 671Nm. Essentially the same unit as fitted to the Camaro ZL1, in a slightly re-tuned form, the power unit features an Eaton 4-lobe supercharger, stand-alone water-to-air charge-air cooling system and high-flow exhaust system with bi-modal exhaust function.

Manufactured in Australia, the chassis and suspension has been uprated to handle all the extra power and 'launch-control' is now included in the manual model's spec'.

In addition to more power and standard equipment, the 2016 model also gets a raft of exterior styling upgrades. The front end features a re-designed fascia incorporating a subtle splitter, while the addition of pitch-black bonnet air vents help deliver an even more aggressive look. The pitch-black theme is carried through to the mirror-backs and wing-vents, with a new 20-inch, five-spoke alloy wheel design completing the styling package.

As if the noise from the engine was enough, two new colours - Slipstream (vibrant blue) and (as pictured) Some Like it Hot (metallic red) - will also help you stand out from the crowd.
