TOP OF the range Navara pick-ups from Nissan can now be fitted with a new powerful and class-leading V6 diesel engine, while those further down the food chain get more performance, plus better emissions and economy from the more standard 2.5-litre dCi engines.
The new 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine has been developed by the Renault/Nissan Alliance and has an unusual V-angle of 65° and is made from a new material, compacted graphite iron (CGI). Power output is a whacking 228 bhp and its torque of 550 Nm makes it top of the class.
This engine helps provide strong towing performance and the Pathfinder (to which it is also fitted) can now tow a 3500 kg braked trailer, with the pick-up now rated to have a 3000 kg limit.
Improvements to the standard pick-up’s 2.5 four-cylinder dCi engine tweak 11% more power and torque – it’s now up to 189bhp.
Both engines have better economy and lower emissions than the older versions.
Changes at the front include a new bonnet, revised grille and a new bumper assembly. Adding 80mm to the length of both models, the bumper is more rounded and lends a more sporting touch.
