THE Brexit vote of June 23 will have profound implications for farming and the wider Scottish economy.
Please, therefore, take part in The Scottish Farmer's intentions poll to enable the industry to get a better feel for the kind of future we will all wake up to on June 24.
You can take part in our poll by telephone, text or through our website, where you can click Yes to leave the EU and No to remain.
So far, the debate surrounding this crucial vote has been farcical. Hysterical scaremongering has been the preferred vote gatherer by both sides. What is really required is a reasoned debate, listing the pros and cons of each option.
This is especially needed for those in the 'undecided' camp. Those who have already firmly made up their mind one way or the other are unlikely to be swayed at this late stage.
It is to be hoped, therefore, that some clarity will be brought to the debate at NFU Scotland's hustings meeting at Ingliston on the Thursday evening of May 19.
Immigration will, naturally, be the topic which concentrates the minds of the majority in the UK. Indeed, this single issue could decide the whole outcome.
For farming, however, both the In and Out camps must make a much better fist of explaining what the future holds for a farming industry which is currently being battered from pillar to post, with seemingly no prospect of respite in the foreseeable future.
