SCOTTISH BUTCHER’S Shop of the Year winner, Boghall Butchers, has created an exclusive Scotch Lamb pie for next week's Royal Highland Show.

In keeping with this year’s show theme, the RHS pie celebrates seasonal produce, using local ingredients from exhibitors at this year’s show such as Scotch Lamb, East Lothian carrots, Ayrshire potatoes, local oil, spices and seasoning.

Boghall Butchers owner Paul Boyle said: “The quality of produce available in Scotland is really a cut above the rest, so it wasn’t difficult to create something special for this year’s show. We often talk about Scotland on a plate but this is Scotland in a pie, bursting with delicious Scottish flavours.

“We work hard to deliver the very best to our customers and hope we can inspire others to champion Scottish produce.”

QMS marketing executive Graeme Sharp said: “Butchers are at the heart of every community, providing their customers with quality produce, fantastic customer service and second-to-none product knowledge.

“Boghall Butchers, who were World Pie Championship winners in 2005 and 2009, and are members of the Scotch Butchers Club, have done a terrific job creating a special Royal Highland Show pie and I, for one, can’t wait to try it!”

Mr Boyle and his wife Christine, a pastry chef, will be hosting a pie masterclass on Sunday June 26, at the QMS stand (in avenue O) at 2.15pm. They are members of the Scotch Butchers Club run by QMS, which is a network of around 300 butcher retailers who support the Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork brands.
