DATES HAVE been announced for this year's Moredun Livestock Health Roadshow, which will see ten events highlighting current livestock health issues held around the country.

The roadshow will run between October 20 and November 9, with vets and scientists from the Moredun Research Institute providing information for farmers and vets that will help to maximise the health, productivity and profitability of Britain's livestock.

Subjects that will be covered include worm control, liver fluke, sheep abortion, cryptosporidiosis, Johne's disease, rumen fluke, sheep scab, lameness, mastitis and OPA.

Chief executive and scientific director of Moredun, Professor Julie Fitzpatrick, commented: "The subjects we are covering during this roadshow have all been suggested by our board of regional advisors, most of whom are farmers, vets and suitably qualified persons themselves – allowing us to remain focused on the needs of the industry.

"We hope that these meetings will help farmers learn more about specific animal health problems, enabling them to make informed choices about disease control on their farms."

The roadshow will visit Perth, Kirkwall, Westray, Peebles, Newmarket, Macclesfield, Launceston, Llandovery, Skipton and Dumfries. The meetings are free to attend and everyone is welcome.

No RSVP is required, apart from the on-farm event in Perth, which requires an RSVP by October 14 to beth.wells@moredun.ac.uk.

All the other events are evening meetings, and start at 7.30pm. For further information visit Moredun’s website www.moredun.org.uk/events
