RURAL CHARITY RSABI is to hold a gala dinner to mark the culmination of its current fundraising campaign, which aims to raise £150,000.

Sponsored by Royal Bank of Scotland, the event will take place at RBS' Gogarburn offices on January 27, 2017, and will mark the conclusion of RSABI’s ‘help us help them’ campaign, which saw a host of fundraising activities taking place throughout 2016, including the RSABI Great Glen Challenge, a 24-hour ploughathon, golf and clay pigeon shoot fundraisers, as well as a tractor journey around the north coast of Scotland.

The dinner will feature a charity auction, and celebrity speakers will include farming comedian, Jim Smith. Royal Bank of Scotland’s corporate and commercial team director, Brian Murphy, said: “The agriculture sector and rural community is an important sector for Scotland’s business, as well as cultural life.

"It has experienced challenging times recently, which brings into sharp focus the importance the RSABI plays. It has been heartening to see the generosity and kind-heartedness people have shown in helping raise funds to support the great work the charity carries out.

"We hope this latest event, which culminates at Gogarburn, raises even more money and helps make a positive difference to so many more lives.”

RSABI’s Paul Tinson, who is co-ordinating the dinner, added: “We are hugely grateful to RBS for supporting this exciting gala occasion to mark the end of our current Help Us Help Them campaign. With the generous assistance of individuals, businesses and organisations up and down the country, we are on course to exceed our fundraising target and look forward to celebrating with all those involved at RBS Gogarburn."
