OFFICIAL scrutiny of Scotland's troubled implementation of farm support reform continued this week, as the Scottish Parliament’s Public Audit and Post Legislative Scrutiny Committee called top civil servants to answer questions about their CAP Futures programme.

The committee previously heard from ScotGov officials in September when a number of concerns were raised. After hearing from them, the committee agreed to ask the Permanent Secretary to attend as there were issues around accountability, performance and management to be addressed.

As The Scottish Farmer went to press, a meeting was scheduled for Thursday, December 8, where as well as hearing from the Permanent Secretary, the committee will also question a number of witnesses from the Scottish Government including Director-General of Economy Liz Ditchburn, Director of Agriculture, Food and Rural Communities Elinor Mitchell, Director of People Nicola Richards, and Chief Information Officer Anne Moises.
