DESPITE WHAT seemed like an avalanche of snow hitting Ayrshire on Thursday and Friday of last week, the ground had cleared considerably by Saturday morning and, although it was a very cold day, the foal show was able to go ahead at Craig Wilson mart, Ayr.
JUDGES TOM Clark Jnr, of Crieff, and Jim Greenhill, of Forfar, consider this foal from the considerable line up
With an excellent turnout of Clydesdale seniors and foals, it proved to be quite a difficult task for the two judges, Mr Tom Clark Jnr, of Crieff, and Mr Jim Greenhill, of Forfar, to choose an overall winner.
However, after much debate and some discussion with umpire, Mr Geoffrey Tanner, from Ireland, it was decided that Collessie Flash Girl, owned and shown by Charlotte Young, of Hall Farm, Ayr, was the overall champion of the show.
In reserve to her was Roughlands Rocco, owned by Iain and Alana Johnstone, of Kirkland Farm, Bothkennar.
Judge, Mr Jim Greenhill, said of the champion: "I thought she was winning fairly easily.
"I was pretty impressed with her - she's developing well into a substantial yearling filly."
