KNOWN best to most of us as the home of the the Royal Highland Show, something a bit different is heading to The Royal Highland Centre, as the Edinburgh showground has announced that it is to host an outdoor concert by 'the world's biggest girl band', Little Mix, on Friday, June 30, 2017.

The venue is well versed in holding large-scale music events, and has previously hosted outdoor concerts by Status Quo and JLS, and regularly hosts large dance events, such as the EH1 Festival and Don't Let Daddy Know, through its on-going partnership with Scottish dance event promoter, Colours.

Chief executive of the Royal Highland Centre, Alan Laidlaw, explained: "Following the significant investment we've made in the site to date, and the planned investment still to come, the centre is now at a level that allows us to compete with other large event venues in Scotland. Our aim is to attract as many chart topping successes to visit us in Scotland's capital, so that fans can experience the excitement of live events close to home.

"More importantly, the Society's investment in the Royal Highland Centre will allow us to generate much needed funds to enable us to fulfil our charitable remit as well as being an important economic driver for the Scottish economy."

Concert promoter, LCC Live, which brought JLS to The Royal Highland Centre back in 2011, is hosting Little Mix for their Edinburgh show. Carlie Davidson of LCC Live, said: "We're thrilled to be bringing Little Mix to the Royal Highland Centre, for what will be a great summer show.

"Little Mix is enjoying phenomenal success at the moment. This show is a chance for Little Mix fans to see the band perform a massive outdoor show this summer. We expect demand for tickets to be extremely high."

The band, which shot to fame after winning the X Factor in 2011, will perform at the Edinburgh venue as part of their round the world tour, starting in Phoenix, AZ, USA in February and finishing in London in November. The Edinburgh concert will be the first UK date on the tour.
