IN A surprise move, under a veil of secrecy, it is understood Ronald Kers is to bow out on milk giant Muller within a few months.

The company put out no official release on Mr Kers' departure, with the move instead leaked to the Grocer magazine.

A press report in Germany initially appeared to suggest that Mr Kers was about to return to the UK to head up Muller UK once more, but this is not the case. He is now set to be replaced by Uwe Summer, former head of marketing and sales at Lindt and Sprungli, from May 1

Neither Muller nor Mr Kers would comment, but it is believed Muller owner Theo Muller’s desire for Mr Kers to relocate fully from the UK, where he currently lives, to Luxembourg proved a sticking point.

Dairy sector pundit Ian Potter commented: “The departure of Ronald Kers doesn’t appear to have been on the cards for months or part of a smooth succession plan.”
