PRIMROSE BEATON has taken on the role of chief prime cattle auctioneer at Lawrie and Symington, Lanark, and this week conducted her first sale for the company.

Mrs Beaton moved into role after 30 years of service at United Auctions, Stirling. She told The Scottish Farmer: "I was sad to leave United Auctions, especially as I had been there for 30 years. It was all I had ever known, but I felt the time was right for me to make a new start.

"Lawrie and Symington's offer was the chance of a lifetime," said Primrose. "I have always wanted to sell cattle, and it was my dream job to go to L and S to do that."

Commenting on her new workplace, and the reaction of other staff about her new role, she added: "I'm sure they were surprised at first! Lanark is a fantastic centre, in the heart of stock country, and I'm excited to take it forward with the team onto its next step.

"I am so grateful to the directors at L and S for giving me this opportunity, and to have the title of chief prime cattle auctioneer is just awesome! It's a great market, and I was blown away with the facilities we have – now we just need to fill them!"
