FAMILY-OWNED maltster Simpsons Malt has been announced as headline sponsor for this year's Berwick Food and Beer Festival, running from September 1 til 3.
Run by Berwick's Slow Food Group and celebrating its 10th year, the three-day event showcases the region's heritage and provenance for food and drink by inviting locals to sample the best of what their local producers and area has to offer.
With the help of Simpsons Malt, the festival has dedicated its Friday night to the local artisan brewers from the surrounding areas showcasing their beers. Held in the marquee on the Barracks Parade, the Beer Festival will attract festival-goers with a mix of beers, ciders, wines, gin and cocktails. Throughout the weekend there will be live music from local bands.
Speaking about his support of the festival, Simpsons vice chairman Richard Simpson explained: "Simpsons Malt is proud to produce some of the finest malt which comes from barley grown in nearby fields and is then exported around the world. Being part of a festival that celebrates local, quality produce gets our wholehearted backing."
Other highlights at the festival include over 60 stalls of local produce, a demonstration kitchen, street food and family entertainment.
