FOLLOWING a brief absence, New Holland’s T5 Series tractors – with a more utilitarian specification are returning to the stable – and in greater numbers this time.

The five-model T5 Utility series spans 75-114hp with a package of features that harks back to the earlier T5000 tractors, but brought up to date.

They fit in the range between the simpler 82-113hp Series TD5 tractors and the more sophisticated Series T5 Electro Command models.

With the T5 Utility tractors, twowheel drive is available with the base specification synchro shuttle transmission for operators who do not need the extra traction of a driven front axle.

They will also get the added manoeuvrability that comes with a simple beam axle for work in and around buildings.

A power shuttle for fingertip selection of forward and reverse is also available and comes with the Dual Command 24x24 transmission, which has a buttonselected high-low feature to shift between two speeds under load.

Front linkage with a lift capacity of 1670kg plus a 1000rpm power take-off option add to the tractors’ versatility when required, complementing a 4400kg rear linkage.

There is a three-speed pto package, which includes Eco gearing for a more economic engine speed when using less power-demanding implements and ground-drive pto for specialist equipment.

New Holland anticipate many users will use these with loaders, so the top three models, from 95-115hp, will be available with a heavier duty front axle with a higher load rating.

For the same reason, the VisionView cab is equipped with a full-width roof window in order for the driver to more clearly see a raised loader bucket or fork.

New Holland’s 740TL loader is said to be an ideal match, with its 2539kg maximum lift capacity and 3.7m loading height. Elsewhere in the cab, buyers get a choice of seats and air conditioning.
