A HUGE rain fall came down on Saturday, but thankfully all of the judging had taken place, and exhibitors and show goers were able to run for cover for what was a short-lived rainpour.

Livestock was high in numbers, with entries in every section of the show, and the champion of champions parade saw each cattle champion on display, along with the sheep and Clydesdale champions.

For the third year in a row, David Craig, of Kennox, Stewarton, was triumphant in the champion of champions, with his 21-month-old Simmental heifer, Kennox Tara's Gem. Previously, her mother and sister took the overall accolade in 2015 and 2016, respectively.

In the sheep lines, Alexander Mitchell, of Hall of Caldwell Farm, Uplawmoor, was crowned the inter-breed champion, with his Texel tup lamb, by Ryeflatt Yoda, while Duncan Whyte, of Whitelee Gate, Newton Mearns, was placed reserve, with Didcot Real Diamond, a ewe hogg out of a Coniston Islay ewe.

Watch our video, which follows David Craig, leading the way for the champion of champions.
