WHAT IS believed to be the last of a special production run of 10 Ferguson tractors is to take to the road again for charity.

Tractor enthusiast Willie Dunlop, of Greentops, Auldgirth, Dumfriesshire, has organised a 27-mile tractor road run from Blackwood House, Auldgirth, on July 1, with a special rosette to be awarded to everyone taking part. Willie will be driving his unusual Ferguson TEF 20, one of only ten made with chrome engine parts, which he bought 40 years ago.

"It was made as a special edition on April 23, 1953, and, as far as I know, mine is the only one left," said Willie, who is 76, and has organised the run himself in aid of two charities close to his heart, Macmillan Cancer Support and the Royal Scottish Agricultural Benevolent Institution.

The route will take in Thornhill, Keir, and Loch Ettrick, and will finish at the pub at Auldgirth. Everyone taking part will be presented with a special rosette to celebrate 40 years of Dumfries Vintage Tractor Club, of which Willie is a member.
