Another commercial calf from Rebecca Stuart and Blair Duffton, made its presence felt to secure not only the inter-breed beef honours but also the supreme overall at Fettercairn Show.

Strutting her stuff all the way to the top for the duo from Insch and Huntly, respectively, was Gold Rush, a 14-month-old Charolais cross heifer bought at Dungannon Auction Mart, in March. She is out of a Limousin cross British Blue cow.

Overall judge, Gary Mitchell, who had to select a supreme between the lead cattle, sheep and horse, said the Charolais cross was "an amazing heifer."

Inter-breed sheep was a Texel gimmer from new Fettercairn exhibitor, Jemma Green, Corskie, who triumphed with a home-bred daughter of Glenside Valhalla.

Taking the blue and white sash was the supreme Suffolk from Mrs Lorimer's Cadgerford flock from Kingswells. Her show stopper, a gimmer shown by son Stuart, stood reserve here last year.

Simmental breeders, Gerald and Morag Smith and son Douglas, Drumsleed, Laurencekirk, also enjoyed another good day, winning the reserve beef honours with their breed leader from Angus Show, Drumsleed Farina 14. This three-year-old was shown with heifer calf at foot.

There was also another big win for the horse champion, King Brex, a 14-year-old ex-racehorse that was winning his fifth consecutive supreme title, for Hilary Mackie following big wins at Alyth, Angus, Brechin Castle and Stonehaven Riding Club.
