A NEW award to recognise the contribution of women to the UK dairy industry has been introduced and opened for nominations. Any woman working in the sector, at any level, is eligible.

The winner will be announced at the annual Women in Dairy conference on September 20, at Sixways Stadium, Worcester, to which all nominees will be invited to attend.

Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers council member Di Wastenage will present the award, alongside Neil Wilson, from the conference's principal sponsor, HSBC.

Mrs Wastenage said: “Recognising and rewarding success is something that Women in Dairy is passionate about and this new award will celebrate female achievements in our industry.”

During the conference, presentations will offer insights into the current global milk market, coming from a mixed line-up of speakers, including First Milk's CEO, Shelagh Hancock and the Co-op's head of agriculture, Ciara Gorst.

Nomination forms are available at www.womenindairy.co.uk/award, or from RABDF’s Emily Egan on 02476 639 317. These forms must be returned by August 18.
