Latheron Agricultural Society’s committee breathed a sigh of relief, as their annual show returned to its show field at West Clyth, for the first time in three years due to the show field being waterlogged.

Entries were down by about a third on the year, however, a fine display of livestock was on show, led by a Mavsey Golden Pride, a two-year-old Simmental cow that took the champion of champions award for Jenson Gunn, who at just a few days over a year old was undoubtedly the youngest owner of a champion.

Mavsey Golden Pride, which stood second in her class at the Highland is by the Welsh bull Banwy T-rex and out of Mavsey Pride. She was shown by Jenson's father, Jonathan.

Overall judges, James and Lorette Mackay, Biggins, found their reserve overall in the supreme horse, Touch of Class, a home-bred, five-year-old warm blood mare, from Ashley Anderson, Bridge Street, Halkirk. It was ridden by Elle Harrold and is by Copilot.

Reserve cattle champion was Class With An Ass, a 14-month-old Limousin cross heifer from J Munro and Son, Invercharron, Ardgay.

Supreme sheep was a North Country Cheviot gimmer by Biggins Sensation from John Polson, Smerlie, Lybster, with the runner-up presented to the lead Texel, a home-bred three-crop ewe by Todholes Smirnoff from John Forbes, Boultach, Latheron.
