A bit muddy underfoot, but there was a big crowd at this year's Moffat Show, including a visiting busload of Icelandic farmers.
A record sheep entry of more than 500, which was 140 better than last year was the main showing highlight, though it was the overall cattle champion that took the champion of champions title as judged by George Neill, from Mindrum, near Coldstream.
This was the Holstein Errolston Miss Maui, shown by Craig Davidson, Errolston, Gretna, for the family farming partnership.
Top sheep champion was Drew, Betty and Peter Brown's big three-shear 'true Blue' Rossiebank-bred ram that had also been inter-breed sheep winner at Dumfries.
In the inter-breed this tup was ahead of the Blackface winner from CC McArthur and Co, Nunnerie, Elvanfoot. Shown by shepherd Bo Brown.
Reserve in the cattle section was the seven-year-old Galloway bull, Turbo Tam of Nether Cleugh, from Jim and Selina Ross, Romesbeoch, Shawhead.
From the horse section, it was a ridden Connemara from Jaeger Anderson, Nether Stenries, Carrutherstown, which took the overall title.
