SCOTCH Mules were in demand at the annual show and sale of ewe lambs and gimmers through C and D Auction Marts, where averages for both sections were up on the year.
A pre-sale show was judged by Craig Goldie, of Skipmyre, who awarded the gimmer championship to a pen from H and A Hiddleston, Park, which he later secured for the top price of £186.
The reserve pen from W Morton and Son, Grennan, made £182 as the 2613 gimmers cashed in to average £136.64, a rise of £3.64 on the year.
Lambs were generally smaller on the year but with numbers short they were very much in demand as 1465 averaged £98.32, a rise of £4.28. Taking the lamb championship was a pen from DB Fleming, Nesbit, which was knocked down to Messrs Stewart, Halldykes, for £130, while the reserve pen from Steven Guild, Ashmark, made £128.
