CLAIMING the championship ticket before going on to sell for the top price of £136 at Caledonian Marts’ show and sale of Scotch Mule ewe lambs at Stirling, was a pen from Heather Gray, Tomfyne.
Her pen of 26 was tapped out by judge, Robert Templeton, of Carslae, Newton Stewart, before he backed his decision to buy the lambs for £136 per head.
The reserve pen from Doug and Lynda Graham, Mains of Burnbank, sold to John Gordon, Wellheads, Huntly, for £120. Tthe third prize pen from David Gray, Drumnessie, sold for the second top price of £130.
Averages were up on the year as 3018 Mule ewe lambs levelled at £95.18 (+£4.22) and Texel ewe lambs averaged £85.99 (+£1.44) selling to £97 from Allanfauld.
Also on offer were 668 Mule gimmers which recorded the biggest increase of £10.95 to level at £136.15, and sold to £160 from Drumnessie.
