CENTRE records were achieved at the Welsh National Texel sale at Welshpool, when a gimmer sold for 7800gns, with gimmers and shearling rams also setting new record averages. 

Growing popularity of the breed in Wales boosted clearance rates to 80%. 
Peter Woof’s gimmer which was female and overall champion at the pre-sale show, topped the event at 7800ns before selling to Paul Delves, Church Stoke. This daughter of Eden Valley Warrior from the Kendal-based Stainton flock, is out of a ewe by Stainton Richochet. 
The reserve male, Ryders Young Gun, a shearling from local breeder, Tom Ryder, sold next at 6100gns. This son of Sportsmans V8 is out of a Caereinion Number One daughter and sold to Red House, Newtown.
Herefordshire’s Peter Vaughan, then went to 5800gns for the reserve female from Robert Cockburn’s Knap flock at Errol, Perth. This ET-bred gimmer daughter of Springwell Viera, is out of a ewe by Baltier Rascal. 
Robert had more to celebrate when his male champion, a Clinterty Yuga Khan-sired lamb, sold to Tynybryn Farms, Tregynon, for 2200gns. 
At 5000gns when snapped up by L Hadfield and Sons, Peak Forest, Derbyshire, was a shearling from Cefyn Prince’s Caereinion flock. He is by Brackenridge Strongbow and out of a ewe from the same family as the 6100gns shearling. 
Back amongst the gimmers, Messrs Jones sold a Stainton Warrier-sired daughter for 4000gns to G Deakins, Heyhope, Powys. She is out of a Glenside Sexpistol daughter. 
Just behind, on 3900gns, the Wilkinsons’ Arkle and Ellen Valley flocks in Cumbria, bought the second prize ram lamb from Daniel Jones, Welshpool. He is by Eden Valley Wiz Kid, and out of a Connachan Sharky daughter. 
Selkirk breeders, Gordon and David Gray, were in the money with gimmers at 3000gns and 2800gns. Dearest was an Ettrick Shannagh Won-O-Won daughter purchased by Patrick Blee, Dunamanagh, Co Tyrone. Selling to R Lloyd, Llangwyin, for 2800gns from David’s Tima flock, was a Procters Vantastic daughter.
