Some 35 years of Dutch Texel breeding came to an end at Carlisle, on Monday, when Welsh breeder, Jan Rodenburg, dispersed his Turbo flock, from Rhyd Y Ceir.
The flock, which was founded on an importation of females directly from Texel Island, attracted a lead bid of 1300gns for a shearling ram by Turbo Value, a son of Avon Vale Universal. He is out of a ewe by a home-bred sire and sold to S Blakey, Spencers Farm, Bolton By Bowland, Clitheroe.
Next best at 1050gns was a gimmer by Turbo Winner, purchased by BR Lawson and Son, Buddle House, Whaston, Richmond.
Another gimmer by Turbo Value made 800gns selling to Paul Strickland, Lambrigg, Austwick, Lancaster, Lancashire.
Also heading to Lancashire were the next three highest priced lots at 700gns, 580gns and 550gns. These two gimmers and a ewe were knocked down to B Crane, Holden Fold Farm, Tockholes, Darwen.

Averages: Eight shearling rams, £458.06; 64 gimmers, £344.04;14 aged ewes, £300.75; 13 ewe lambs, £151.44.
