More than 330 store cattle and 15 breeding females were forward for Lawrie and Symington’s first show and sale of store cattle of the season at Forfar, on Tuesday, where the judge, Jim Watson, Pityot, found his champion in the top stot, a Limousin cross from WN Lindsay, Cairnleith.
Reserve was the second prize bullock to the champion from DR Hood, Middlehill.
By the end of the day, 215 bullocks sold to average 219p per kg or £1006.30, with a top price of 261p achieved for Limousins from Cairnleith, or £1340 paid for Beef Shorthorns from West Bank. 
The 123 heifers levelled at 215p or £994.88, having sold to 253p for a Limousin cross from Muirhouses, or £1235 for similar from West Park.
Top price amongst the small show of breeding cattle was £1680 paid for a Simmental cross cow with heifer calf from West Bank.
