MORE than 2000 sheep were sheared in 50 hours in July this year by Grant Hurcomb, of Stranraer, who managed to raise a total of £40,793.36 for two charities which are close to Mr Hurcomb's heart.
This week, he presented that money, which was equally split, to MND Scotland's head of fundraising, Iain McWhirter, and Cancer Research UK's local fundraising manager, Rowan Main, in two cheques. Commenting on his success, Mr Hurcomb said: "I would just like to thank everyone who sponsored me during the shear.
"I am delighted to say that we managed to raise nearly double what we did during my last charity shear, in 2015, and it's an honour to be able to give so much money to these two fantastic charities."
