A consistent show-winner capped its career by winning the SEIB Insurance Brokers’ ‘Racehorse to riding horse’ (R2R) title at the recent Horse of the Year Show. Rebecca Court’s ride, Beware Chalk Pit – with the stable name of Perfect Pete – beat a strong field for the title in the Birmingham NEC. It was a special moment for Rebecca as HOYS was his last show – the 13-year-old is to be retired. The horse is owned by Ann Leftley, with Rebecca having him on loan, and is produced by Justine Armstrong-Small. Second was Helen Newbold’s Emperors Jade and Jo Bates was third on the grey Grandeur, which won £600,000 on the track
