A SHORT film has been produced by British Wool to illustrate where wool comes from, and the journey it makes before the point of delivery.

Titled The British Wool Story, the short film looks at harvesting wool, as well as the process it goes through, including on-farm flock management, sheep shearing, and fleece collecting, and Richard Wilson, of Crimple Head Farm, Beckwithshaw, North Yorkshire, is the star of the show.

It allows viewers to see the amount of physical work and skill that is required in sheep farming, and this is demonstrated throughout by Mr Wilson. The film then goes on to look at how wool is graded at his local depot, taking the viewer through the entire process.

Head of marketing at British Wool, Graham Clark, said: "Our unique story shows people the many processes that our sheep farmers and British Wool carry out to enable our fibre to be used in textiles.

"Real people, like Richard, are doing this work every day and our film - which was shot across North Yorkshire and in Bradford and Wales – has captured this remarkable journey to help educate consumers.”

Lasting three minutes, the film covers the journey of wool over the course of year, and can be viewed at www.britishwool.org.uk, or at www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPYUFbor7io&t=18s
