HORSCH will show off an expansion to its seed drill family, with the launch of two new drills at the forthcoming Agritechnica machinery show in Hanover, Germany, in November.

Available in 6m, 8m and 9m working widths, the Pronto NT models feature the proven TurboDisc double-disc coulter at 20cm row spacing in combination with a compact, leading wavy disc, making it ideal for mulch and direct seeding.

Operational speeds of up to 20kph allow for a high area output and Horsch argued that horsepower requirement is low because the wavy discs cut through organic material and cultivate the soil only in the seed rows.

The necessary weight for correct operation of the wavy discs and seed coulters is transferred via a sophisticated hydraulic system. In very hard conditions, additional weight up to 1400kg can be mounted on the frame to allow proper working.

A 4000-litre seed hopper or a 5,000-litre double hopper allows seed and fertiliser to be applied at the same time. A micro-granular unit can be combined with both versions for one pass operation.

The new Serto SC is a compact seed drill for large farms, with working widths of 10m and 12m. These have an all-over tyre packer combined with a heavy double-disc seed coulter and two seed coulters run behind every tyre with a row spacing of 16.6 cm, similar to the Pronto system.

Horsch's new parallelogram coulter has large bearings and is ideal for difficult conditions. To guarantee an even placement, the Serto SC is equipped with a packer for levelling and consolidation.

These drills have a 6000-litre hopper capacity, with a 50:50 split possible. In addition, another hopper of 300 litres is available for micro-granular compounds.

The drill folds to a 3m transport width by simply pushing a button.

Horsch has also upped the ante with a new Terrano GX and Cruiser cultivators.

The former has 4m to 6m working widths and featuring 3 or 4-bar version with a tine spacing between 28.5cm and 31.5cm. The GX joins the three-point mounted Terrano FX, the Terrano MT with two rows of cultivation discs and two tine rows and the 10m and 12m Terrano 10 and 12 FM for larger working widths.

It has four cultivation point options to cater for a wide variety of conditions, with the main chassis is located behind the tine section, in front of the levelling tools. It also has large tyres for road transport and headland turns.

There's a fully integrated tractive power amplifier that transfers up to 1200 kg weight to the rear axle of the tractor while working by using lifting and lowering hydraulics in a depressurised system. A choice of levelling discs that aggressively distribute the material in front of the packer and tine levellers are available.

A fertiliser kit for a targeted placement of fertiliser and the flexible MiniDrill for catch crops and greening can be specified.

The Cruiser XL is a 5m or 6m trailed cultivator with spring tines which fills a gap between the three-point linkage mounted models and the 10m and 12m trailed versions.

With its six bars, the Cruiser mixes and distributes trash and a 700mm frame height ensures even work with large quantities of organic material.

Four different cultivation points adds versatility and the spring tines run above the frame for a clearance of 700mm – up from 600mm. With a release force of 150kg, it constantly maintains the working depth of up to 15cm even in difficult conditions, said Horsch.

Its chassis is behind the tine section, in front of the levelling tools and working depth is adjusted via support wheels at the front and the packer. Again, it has the integrated tractive power amplifier fitted.
