UPGRADES which will ensure its range of trailed sprayers is bang up to date with the latest technology for 2018, are being introduced on specialist sprayer-maker, Chafer's Sentry and Guardian models.

A new boom suspension assembly improves contour following, whilst allowing the boom to run closer to the ground (below 50cm) on even the largest diameter wheels, to ensure maximum spray efficacy. A new sliding frame set-up allows an increased range of travel up and down for the boom, whilst improving crop clearance under the mast itself.

These rollers have sealed bearings which isolate the boom from tramline undulations and level out spraying heights, with the reaction time of the lift and lower hydraulic functions reduced to give better boom control.

The ePlumbing system has been updated to use CANbus valves for real time information of the valve’s status and position, but unlike other systems on the market, this can alert the operator if a valve does not reach its intended target position, therefore removing the chance of cross contamination.

Variable tank agitation is also featured with automatic shut-off at low tank volumes to eliminate foaming, all controlled from the ePlumbing screen. The 'intelligent' valves can also lower chemical dead volumes by reducing the total number of components in the system, reducing wash out time and washings for disposal.

The steering system on the upper ‘e’ spec machines has also been updated, moving from a potentiometer and linkage between the tractor and the sprayer, to sensors mounted to the sprayer itself. This is said to increase steering sensitivity and assist tractor following.

No connection to the tractor is required, reducing time taken to hitch and unhitch as well as improving reliability. Additional room has also been created around the mudguards to ensure this steering system can cope with larger diameter wheels and tyres.
