JUDGING has finished here at the Borderway Agri-Expo, where the top title in the prime cattle section went to a Limousin cross heifer from first time exhibitors, the Workman family, from Larne, Northern Ireland.

Named Bexy Boo, the home-bred 15-month-old which won the calf championship at Allams late last year, is by Wilodge Vantastic and out of the family's show cow, Gabby. She will now retire for breeding for Robert and Leanne, together with children Victoria and Jamie, who were at the show, while other son John was watching at home.

In reserve was a Scottish-bred bullock named Jon Snow from fellow Northern Irish competitors, Dermot and Gareth Small. Their 13-month-old was bought for £6000 at the Thainstone Spectacular from John and Craig Robertson, Newton of Logierait, and is sired by the Limmy bull, Calogale Irresistable. This was his first outing since his purchase.

Claiming the reserve heifer spot was a British Blue cross from the North-east's Michael and Mark Robertson, Fodderletter, who were also making their debut here. Their Rachel did well on the show circuit and was bought privately from Alistair Robson, Old Manse.

Mark and Sarah Harryman, together with Sarah's father, lifted the reserve bullock honours with their reserve champion from Countryside Live, a Limmy cross called Jimmy that was bought at Cockermouth from the Richardsons, Gatesgarth.
