SUPPORTING PRODUCERS from the Northern Isles as they prepare for this year’s Royal Highland Show, Serco NorthLink's lifeline ferry has this week transported cheese, oatcakes, ice cream and of course rum and gin, from Orkney to be showcased at the event.
All that food was followed this morning by a group of Shetland Cheviot cross ewes and gimmers, and two Suffolk lambs that arrived at Aberdeen Harbour after travelling overnight on the Hrossey ferry, sponsored by the Shetland Flockbook Trust, which is taking them to the Highland in order to demonstrate some of the top quality sheep the Shetland breed produces.
Pictured here are NorthLink Ferries’ livestock supervisor Alan Cumming, Robert James Poleson, Fraser Anderson and Adam Duncan from Shetland's north mainland.
