A COURSE designed to help dairy entrepreneurs become the 'cream of the crop' is to be hosted by Scotland's Rural College.

Organised by the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers, this year's course will be held at SRUC’s Crichton Royal Farm in Dumfries, with the sessions covering topics such as contracts, joint ventures, finance and presenting business cases.

'Entrepreneurs in Dairying' will take place over eight sessions, starting in September, with a final session taking place at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire on January 8, 2019.

Head of knowledge exchange at SRUC, Professor Dave Roberts, said: “The need for improved entrepreneurship has been identified by the dairy industry and this is an excellent opportunity for SRUC to link in with industry organisations.”

RABDF course facilitator, Victoria Chomiak, said that past versions of the course had seen some real success stories and provided numerous opportunities for past attendees.

She said: “It’s great to be working with SRUC on this project and we look forward to enhancing the knowledge of another group through the delivery of key topics that will be vital in the future success of our industry.”
