Kincardineshire contract farmer, Andrew Moir, has taken over the chairmanship of AgriScot from Robin Young, Dunblane, who steps down after nine years in charge of Scotland’s leading farm business event.
Mr Moir who farms 650 acres on the rich red Mearns soil where the main crops are winter cereals and oilseed rape and where the main livestock enterprise is fattening pigs, said he wanted to carry on the AgriScot success story which Robin had helped create.
In the nine year period since Mr Young took over the chairmanship, AgriScot has developed into a major trade exhibition. Last November’s successful event was attended by more than 9000 visitors from all parts of the farming industry.
Andrew Moir who will be the first non dairy farmer to chair the management committee, said his appointment was recognition of the wider base of activities now catered for at AgriScot. “It is now a real focus for all professionals working in the farming industry,” he stated.
The organising committee presented retiring chairman, Robin Young, with a limited edition McIntosh Patrick print in recognition of his stewardship of the organisation.
