Beef deal now in the balance

THE LONG running saga of forming a new beef organisation to represent Scotland's beef farmers could be nearing the end, with a final decision expected within the next week or so.

Following the launch at this year's Royal Highland Show by the then Moredun chairman, John Ross, of the Scottish Beef Association – a merger of the Scottish Beef Cattle Association and National Beef Association Scotland – negotiations have been fraught with problems and indecision.
